Charts present complicated numerical data, in an easy to understand and visual manner. The chart wizard from previous versions has been replaced by the Insert tab.

To create a new chart
1. Select the data to be included in a chart, including the titles (Jan, Feb, Mar etc) and the row labels (country names).

2. From the Insert tab, in the Charts group, select the type of chart required e.g. Column, select a column type.

3. After the chart is inserted on the worksheet, the Chart Tools appear with three contextual tabs: Design, Layout, and Format with all the commands for work with charts.

Formatting a chart -Using A Chart Style

By using a chart style, you can apply different colors to a chart.

1. Click in the chart to select it.
2. On the Design tab, in the Chart Styles group, click the More button


Add/ Remove  Chart Titles, Legend & Labels


Creating Charts with Microsoft ExcelExplanatory titles can be added to the entire chart, vertical and horizontal axis as well as data labels and chart legend.
1. Click in the chart to select it.
2. On the Layout tab in the Labels group, select the Chart Title.
3. Select the position of the title
4. Type in the title
5. To change options relating to the chart title, select More Title Options.

To add Titles to the chart axis:
1. Click in the chart to select it.
2. For titles on the horizontal and vertical axis, on the Layout tab in the Labels group, select Axis Titles.
3. Select the position of the title

5. To change options relating to the axis title, select More Horizontal /Vertical Axis Title Options.

To add/ remove chart legend
1. Click in the chart to select it.
2. On the Layout tab in the Labels group, select Legend.
3. Select the position of the legend
4. To change options relating to the Legend, select More Legend Options.

To add/ remove Data labels
1. Click in the chart to select it.
2. On the Layout tab in the Labels group, select Data Labels.
3. Select the position of the Data labels
4. To change options relating to the data labels, select More Data Labels Options.

Copy An Excel Chart Into A PowerPoint PresentationMicrosoft Excel 2007 /2010 training. Creating Charts


1. In Excel, Copy the chart.
2. Open PowerPoint
3. Paste the chart and using the smart tag at the bottom right, a number of paste options are available. Select Chart (linked to Excel data) to link the charts so any changes to the chart in Excel will also be reflected in the chart in PowerPoint.
